Melamine Cyanurate (MCA) is a high efficiency halogen-free environmental flame retardant containing nitrogen. It is widely used in the plastics industry as a flame retardant.
After sublimation heat absorption and high temperature decomposition, MCA is decomposed to nitrogen, water, carbon dioxide and other gases which take away the reactant heat to achieve the purpose of flame retardant. Because of high sublimation decomposition temperature and good thermal stability, MCA can be used for most of resin processing.
MCA is a highly effective flame retardant due to its high nitrogen content, making it an excellent choice for materials that require low flammability. Its thermal stability, combined with its low toxicity, make it a popular alternative to other commonly used flame retardants like brominated compounds. Additionally, MCA is relatively inexpensive and easy to manufacture, making it an economical choice for large-scale application.
