Halogen-Free Flame Retardant Aluminum Hypophosphite For Epoxy Adhesive
Introduction:
Aluminum hypophosphite (AHP) is a new type of inorganic phosphorus flame retardant. It is slightly soluble in water, and has the characteristics of high phosphorus content and good thermal stability. Its application products have the characteristics of high flame retardant, strong thermal stability, and excellent mechanical properties and weather resistance..
Endothermic effect: When exposed to heat, aluminum hypophosphite undergoes an endothermic reaction, absorbing heat energy from the surroundings. This helps to reduce the temperature of the material and slow down the combustion process.
Formation of an insulating layer: Aluminum hypophosphite can decompose under high temperatures, releasing water vapor and phosphoric acid. The water vapor acts as a cooling agent, while the phosphoric acid forms a layer of char or phosphorus-containing compounds on the material's surface. This layer acts as an insulating barrier, shielding the underlying material from direct contact with the flame.
Dilution and extinguishing of volatiles: Aluminum hypophosphite can also dilute and extinguish flammable volatiles by absorbing them into its structure. This reduces the concentration of flammable gases in the vicinity of the flame, making it more difficult for combustion to occur. the effectiveness of aluminum hypophosphite as a flame retardant depends on various factors such as the concentration and distribution of the additive, the material it is mixed with, and the specific conditions of the fire. In practical applications, it is often used in combination with other flame retardants to enhance its effectiveness and create a synergistic effect.
